Melanie Hobson is best described as a follower of Jesus Christ, teacher, wife, mother, grandmama, and life-long student. She gave her life to Jesus at the age of 7 and grew up in a loving Christian home where she received a solid spiritual foundation from her family, and her church.
“I answered God’s call to ministry while serving in Student Summer missions during college and have responded through the years by serving in the local church where my gifts can be used,” Melanie said of her desire to serve at GO Church.
Melanie and her husband, Craig, have been married for more than 35 years with four adult children. Throughout the years, her most loved area to serve has been in children’s ministry. Having homeschooled all four of her kids, she has seen success in starting preschool ministries in three church plants, working as a paraprofessional for 6 years at Cherokee Charter Academy, and now her service to the children at GO Church.
“The GO Church Children's ministry vision is to GATHER to instill a love for the true and living God, lay a solid Biblical foundation, and provide opportunities for the Holy Spirit to GROW His fruit in the hearts of children from birth through middle school so they are equipped to GO as the church now and in the future. Our GOkids team creatively teaches God’s word weekly as we build a strong base of trained volunteers to rotate in serving the Lord by leading children to Him.”
Melanie holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wake Forest University and Master of Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary; however, her real education has been walking with the Lord allowing Him to do His good work in her throughout her life, "for He will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Phil. 1:6
